project life | week 28 & 29

Jul 30, 2012

I love this project!! Even after 29 weeks it is still so much fun to do when I sit down at my desk and figure out what I will be creating. I have always loved scrapbooking and this makes it so much easier for me. I love mapping out my week, printing pictures, writing on journal cards, and adding decorations to everything.

We saw two movies in these two weeks: Spider-Man and Batman, spent time with Steve's family, spent time in NYC, worked on Pinterest Project #2 out of 10, and got to see Fifa. She has been back and forth since I started classes. I have her this week and I am really excited because I miss her when she's gone. My mom says she sits and stares at the door waiting for me to come home when they have her and she only eats when she finally starves and has to eat. Crazy dog.

Week 28.

I like this portion of the book because I love the photographs of his nieces and nephew. Taking pictures of kids is so carefree.

Week 29.

I am a fan of this title card. Simple, bright, and clean.

I added the three washi tapes I recently bought on top of the picture so I could see which ones I had. I love them!

I hope everyone is enjoying this as much as I am!!

recognition.

Jul 27, 2012

Last night in class we had to do a group discussion on the Public Sector work and how to make the government run better, versus running it like the private sectors. Boring right? Not as much as many may think. Our group is very diverse and we always seem to be that one that doesn't think like the others, it's fun. But we mentioned the word recognition and it led me to think that most people don't get recognized as much as they should. People go under appreciated all of the time and I'm not sure if people realize how much being recognized does to a person, or at least myself. When I do a job and I do it well, I love when people notice my hard work. Everyone loves a compliment. I love getting an email that says someone left a comment, I love when my boss understands how hard I am working.

So here I am, on a wonderful Friday, letting everyone know or even just one person who reads this, that I am thankful for it.

recognize that when my Starbucks coffee is perfect it starts my day off right

recognize how helpful my parents are for paying my Fall term bill

recognize how hard my parents worked to give my brother and I a great life

recognize that they earned and fully deserve their retirement

recognize the importance of family & friends

recognize even though some people do terrible things, it does not mean everyone out there is the same

recognize working hard will get you places

recognize I am imperfect and that is okay

recognize we all need a little more compassion in our lives

project life | week 27

Jul 26, 2012

Week 27 up and running! I was a rebel and I skipped class yesterday; originally to work on my take home exam for another class that the professor never posted so.. there's that. I kept checking so I could work on it and it never showed up, still not there. So I was still productive and worked on PL.

It seems so long ago: 4th of July. NYC skyline of fireworks. Magic Mike girls night - best thing ever. How they are coming out with a second one, I am not really sure and don't really care because I will still go see it.
I had taken two days off around 4th of July so I could relax before class starts (because it's crazy) and we went to Dorney Park for the evening. It was hot and muggy, I got injured on a roller coaster at the end so we went home after a few more rides. My neck needed some heat and Aleeve. Funny pictures of Fifa because Steve loves to mess with her, I am so thankful for him and my parents for taking her for the weeks I have school. I posted before how my best friend Craig got engaged to his wonderful girlfriend, now fiance, Elizabeth and I could not be more excited for the two of them.
The death of me..
For week 27, I added an insert about my outing in Atlantic City with Priscilla. An awesome weekend that we had a blast; dancing, eating, tanning.. nothing better than that. I used Photoshop Elements to type on the picture of our hotel explaining our night together. We were photo-bombed by this guy at the restaurant/dance floor, it was very amusing looking at the camera and seeing that, we turned around and he was there. Not creepy at all.. We did a photo booth, I love love love those, and somehow we paid $10 for 4 strips. We only wanted two but it did not give us change back and we ended up with 4.
Very simple title card.

Sneak peak at Week 28.

Sneak peak at Week 29. I loved taking this picture because it was full of color. Shopped at Sweet Lulu and Freckled Fawn for some colorful decorations for Priscilla's going away in August and washi tape for Project Life and whatever else I can think of. I loved the packaging that Sweet Lulu came with.. lots of pink to cushion.

I will be posting Week 28 & 29 either tomorrow or next week.

moving through july

Jul 25, 2012

I never thought that when I was younger I would turn out to be the person that I am today. When I look back as a teenager, I rarely got along with my parents, I was the pickiest eater ever, I could not even cook "just-add-water" pancakes. I had awkward moments where I never wore girly clothes because it just wasn't me and I never really knew what "taste" I had. All of my best friends were guys I had grown up with in school and a few girlfriends here and there. I never saw myself being in graduate school and actually enjoying it. I wanted to live in New Jersey for the rest of my life and spend all of my money on clothes and all of my time on the internet. I never watched the news and could care less about politics.

Now?
I am a vegetarian who can bake like it's no tomorrow, cook without recipes or with recipes and they come out awesome (for the most part). I get along with my parents and talk to them more often than I ever thought I would. I have my own dog that I have to take care of, which makes my responsibilities even more. I love going to class, taking notes, learning, and listening to the insight of an elder who is in the field I would like to be in. I want to move out of New Jersey as fast as possible and move to California, more than anyone realizes. Most of my best friends are still the guys from high school and new girlfriends that I love. I spend every morning and evening watching the news and caring about what is going on in the world. I spend my money on hobbies I enjoy or home-goods type of items. I love to wear high heels, skirts, dresses, and anything that makes me look pretty; still not a fan of make-up and probably never will be.

I always thought I don't want to grow up and I want to stay in this moment and be young and free.. come to find out I am still young and free, but can not wait to grow up more. I can not wait to have my own house to decorate and call my own or live with someone who will one day be my husband. I can't wait to look back on my Project Life album with my children and show them how awesome I was haha.

Speaking of Project Life, I convinced my friend Haley to try it out and hope that she enjoys it as much as I do. I am so behind with school, I somehow manage to keep up with it but it is not that easy. Here's a sneak peak at Week 27:

I am going to try and post everything tonight, week 27 & 28. Hopefully I will be able to.

Some other interesting news, I am hoping that I can finish my Masters by the end of next summer! If I work hard enough and take the right amount of classes it can be possible and I will probably jump with joy. I want to move out west so bad!

new york city

Jul 19, 2012

Steve is not a big fan of NYC, it is too busy for him and since he loves to drive it definitely is not the place for him. It is nice to visit once in a while and we have not been since our anniversary in May. My rheumatologist is at Columbia University and he was kind enough to drive me since I hate driving in the city. Besides the traffic and humidity, we had an enjoyable day. I even got to scratch one item off of my list :) and work on two others.

9. Eat out at 15 new vegan/vegetarian places
21. Try more vegan bakeries

Although this does not scratch it completely off of the list, I tried one new vegan food lunch truck (a first!) and we bought donuts from there, so that applies to vegan bakeries too! The Cinnamon Snail vegan food truck is from Hoboken but has been trying to go into the city so we tracked them down on Facebook and went to have lunch. It was DELICIOUS. I enjoyed the Maple mustard tempeh sandwich on grilled spelt bread with roasted garlic aioli, kale, tomato, and onion; it was amazing. Steve was not as happy with his only because it was SO messy and falling apart into his lap (on napkins), but still. Difficulty eating takes away from the enjoyment and flavor, in my opinion at least.

1. Go to Dylan's Candy Bar

Dylan's Candy Bar is exactly what it says in the name, a candy bar. A huge three story building that is full of different types of candy, bright colored t-shirts, stuffed animals, and souvenirs. One the third floor they have a cupcake and ice cream parlor and I partook in the ice cream eating! Cake batter and Candy blast on a cone please? THANK YOU! I enjoyed myself very much. We did not buy any candy, it was at least 100 degrees with the humidity, I could not bear to have melted chocolate or gummy bears in my purse. It was worth driving around for 2 hours looking for parking ha ha.

It really was a great day in the city. And the best part? We got out right before the huge storm, lightening, and hail hit Times Square so we were safe and sound at home :)

project life | week 26

Jul 17, 2012

Class has made me realize how hard it really is to keep track of Project Life. I am so busy with reading assignment and projects for class that I can not keep up with both. So here I am, a few weeks behind and trying my hardest to catch up.

I am keeping it short and simple.

I thought it may be hard using this Design F but it really is not that bad. Adding smaller pictures and journaling makes it pretty easy to use but it definitely is the one I use the least. The summer had been treating me very well, considering I was only at the beach a few times I got pretty tan. Now that school is in session, that tan will have to wait.

My town did fireworks early on July 1st; it was enjoyable, minus the muggy weather. Four of us went together, double dating and stood to watch fireworks. For such a small town they were great. I wrote a short summary of how they went on the picture of the fireworks as well as the cupcakes. Priscilla will be leaving me soon to move to North Carolina with John and it makes me sad watching her pack up all of her things! I know that we will keep in touch, even though we have known each other for less than a year (that is crazy) we have become closer than I ever would have thought. I have not found a friend like her since I was in high school when Haley and I were inseparable. At this age and with technology, we will keep in touch no matter what.

My book is overly filled so I ended it at week 26, half the year. The -2 is because I started this book mid-December and thought it was funny like that. The four missing spaces are space that are going to be filled with 4 special events that happened to me during the first 6 months of 2012.

The more and more I think about this project, the more I fall in love with it. I can not wait to look back on this book in a few years and laugh and remember all the little details of my life when I was 24-25. I can not wait until one day I have children to show this book to, it will be really exciting and funny to see. I hope everyone else is enjoying this as much as me!

weekending.

Jul 16, 2012

I miss my dog. I miss my dog. I miss my dog! Since school has started, my life has been nonstop reading, studying, working on homework, cooking, cleaning, and trying not to pass out at work or class. Exhaustion is the word and I am it. I got Fifa back for Friday night before we took her to my parents house and as you can see, she is just as exhausted as I am. Her week has been filled with children constantly wanting to play with her, take her for a walk, chase her with terrifying robot toys, and swimming. She finally got some rest and when she was with me for those few hours, she slept.

Now she is with my parents in South Jersey and I miss her dearly.

I decided that I need to better my photography skills, which means I need to start carrying my camera around with me more. I am that tiny Asian girl that walks around with a big DSLR and takes pictures of random items because I can.

I spent Saturday with Steve's family, his brother was up from Florida with his 3 kids (M. C. & B). We all went out to dinner and walked around a small classic car show in the town that we went to dinner. They are all adorable in pictures and crazy in real life. So much energy and so much talking, it is hard to keep up for me, especially at half energy. I enjoyed their company and taking pictures.

When we got home we had some desserts, mini vanilla cupcakes that I made; specifically vanilla for Steve's dad (pictured there too). It was a great time. Afterwards, I passed out at 9pm and took a nap because my body could not handle any more.

Sunday was a day filled of reading and playing catch up on life. Project life is a few weeks behind and it will continue to stay that way until school is over. One week down, four more to go!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

life recap

Jul 11, 2012

Fourth of July // we decided that we didn't want to do anything crazy because traffic would be too much to handle for us. We went to Veggie Heaven in Teaneck, NJ. It's up north near where the NYC fireworks are so we tried to reach them. It was not easy, AT ALL. People are everywhere, cars, walking, biking, we just about gave up. We got stuck in the Pathmark parking lot, Steve had to get out of the car to direct traffic so we could make it out. We saw some of the fireworks from that parking lot. Heading back home, hopped on the Turnpike, and had the BEST view of the fireworks. So we pulled over and watched the ending- best place ever.

AC girls weekend // Priscilla will soon be leaving me and I can't tell you how sad it makes me to think about, but we had a delightful weekend dancing and dancing and more dancing. Great laughs and weekend.

BEST NEWS EVER // One of my best friends recently got engaged to his girlfriend Elizabeth. I hope that none of my friends read this or anyone that isn't supposed to know until the weekend but I can not wait! I have been waiting since Spring for him to tell me that he asked her. I love love love it. I am so excited. They are just too cute. When I received this photo, I screamed I was so excited.

I am behind on Project Life, but I knew that would happen. I just do not have time with class. As we speak, I am sitting in class listening to a guest lecturer. Obviously not paying too much attention. I will start.. Maybe.
