five places I want to go to in 2016

Jan 23, 2016

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do.

If I won this Power Ball Jackpot then I could do it all the time as my job instead of working at my job. Unfortunately, I'm not that lucky yet so here I will dream about some places to potentially travel to during this year. Most are within reach, some I would like to but maybe won't be able to just yet.

1. Austin, Texas

It is known for music and food. Vegan food to be exact. Although I am no longer vegan, I appreciate an amazing vegan meal and Austin knows what they're doing. I've seen some amazing Air BnB's here. I have heard it's great to visit for Texas and I wish when I had gone on my road trip across the US that I picked Austin and not Dallas!

2. San Diego/Palm Springs, CA

3. Costa Rica

I tend to go on vacations without the "rest and relaxation" portion really in mind. It has mostly been about seeing as many touristy hot spots as we can, while trying as many different restaurants as we can. Now, Costa Rica would most likely be Yelp-free and I could enjoy my time spent lying on a beach sipping on a umbrella drink, getting a tan. This is my type of vacation. BEACH. It has been a while since it has only been a beach vacation and I think I want it to be here.

4. Chicago, Illinois

One of the major cities in America. I hear amazing things about it during the summer, the winter I can skip out on (I'm okay with that). I want to see the ballparks, the deep dish pizza, the bean! I want to try the food and experience the culture and really enjoy what Chicago has to offer. People say it is a great city, now it is time to understand it for myself.

5. Yellowstone National Park

Outdoors and hiking are not my thing, but this is an exception. Hiking and glamping, I can handle some of that!

the pacific northwest

Jan 16, 2016

The Pacific Northwest is an amazing place to visit.
Yes, it can be rainy. Yes, it doesn't have a beach with sun. But, it's still awesome.
I have gone on vacation before, the beaches, the sun, the touristy spots; this one was different. It was all about the FOOD. I love trying new restaurants, it's why I have been an Elite Yelper for the last six years! One of my favorite things about new areas is the vegetarian stuff, and most importantly - the ice cream. Yup, I love it.

First stop was in Portland for two days.
We stayed at the Jupiter Hotel, a less cool version of the Ace Hotel. As much as I wanted to stay there, I couldn't deal with the fact that most had a communal bathroom; seriously? Jupiter wasn't awful, it wasn't that bad but I think the rain killed the vibe for us. We were walking distance from a bunch of bars, restaurants, breweries/distilleries. It was a good time. My favorite thing about Portland was Salt&Straw and Blue Star Donuts. Thank you Kelly Purkey and Dana. Following them on Instagram helped find places to eat.

The time in Seattle was similar to other visits, but new for A so I didn't mind stopping at these places again, especially when they're so good anyways. Seattle was all about the pho. I want it back so badly. Also, do you see that picture with the eggs inside the toast!? Eggs in a basket, literally, eggs inside the toast; I was blown away. I love good brunch spot, I wish I could find one locally to me now!

It has reconfirmed the idea that I want to move to Seattle one day. At one point in my life, it was all about sunny California, but I could totally see myself in Seattle or Portland. It's definitely a me type of city.

I can't wait for my next travel adventure.
2016 will hopefully be full of adventures and airplane rides.
