a look back

Jul 1, 2016

Timehop on Facebook is a bittersweet application and also a genius idea by the brainiacs at Facebook. It gives you a brief look at what itccf was like this exact day a year, two years, three-four-five years ago and sometimes those memories suck, whiles others are the err-mer-gawdd I miss that!

Yesterday was three years since I bought my Jetta.

Three years since I broke up with the person who was the "love of my life."
Three years and three boyfriends later because apparently it's hard to keep one.

But, in the three years it has been a growing period and it's nothing but happiness through those rough times. When the Vegas bachelorette party happened I was having a conversation with one of the girls, she is about six years younger than me, and we talked about life and timelines. She just recently graduated, has had one boyfriend since high school, is working full-time and living at home with parents. She mentioned how she feels like it will be so difficult to find a boyfriend, move on with life, etc etc. I chuckled and told her that at 29-years old I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up and since the time of age 26 to 29, there have been 3 serious boyfriends, almost 3 different moves, and a plethora of growing up and finding out who I was in the process.

When taking a look back on how much growing has happened in the last six years of my life, it puts a smile on my face and truly makes me see how different I am from that 23-year old who wanted to quit her job and move to California with her boyfriend to the 29-year old miss independent moving away from everyone and everything she knows. Even when I look at this blog, I started it when I dated Steve, through the break up and so much more. In the periods of my life where I thought nothing could get better, it always did and learned so much from it. We worry so much about things that only matter in that moment and not the big picture. The whole seeing the forest through all the trees, something like that. I'm learning to take a step back and decompress. The dishes will get done, the project will be completed, that vacation will be awesome, and everything in between because at the end of the day things will fall into place.

And here I am, twenty-nine and not married, new live in boyfriend in a new state with a new career. It is amazing how time can fly by and you don't even realize how much time has passed.

28 favorite moments

It's my birthday (on Sunday)!

Well, my birthday month, my birthday week starts next week, next Sunday to be exact! I share it with Mother's Day this year, along with Liam. Yes, what a coincidence that we share the same birthday, we're birthday twins and I'm older. They call me cougarrr. Just kidding, two years isn't that much! I am taking a note from Elise Blaha and her birthday moments and things. She has done it for a few years now and I have read along with her and loved it, so here I am following in those footsteps to remember those moments at age 28 that I loved so much.

Here they are, the 28 best moments...

Stepping foot onto Thailand to visit my parents at 11o'clock at night and then going to ride elephants at 7am the next morning.

Taking AC on his first trip to Thailand and seeing how much he loved it and enjoyed the food. It was a moment I am sure both of us will never forget, even with the things that have happened since then. It was an amazing vacation.

Meeting baby Sofia for the first time. She is just as cute in pictures as she is in person. I was so happy to see my best friend and her adorable little baby girl.

Meeting baby Annabelle for the first time when Bree was in NJ for treatment. It was amazing to see both of them, it was under terrible circumstances but still great to see them both.

Seeing Taylor Swift for a second time and belting out her songs with 3 high school friends. She is amazing in concert and I love her, I can not wait to see her again when she comes out with a new album in two years ha!

Thanksgiving. My brother came home with Amanda, my cousins came to visit, I met my second cousin Stella (totes adorbs). It was so nice to have everyone together again and have that big dinner with all of my family.

Moving into my new apartment. My very own big girl apartment away from home and being all adult.

Starting my new job, I can not believe it has almost been one full year at my job. Time really does fly. It has had it's ups and downs but for the most part I have enjoyed learning as much as I have at the plant

Laying by my pool all summer.

Buying fresh flowers from the Farmers Market.

Tubing down the Delaware with friends in the middle of the summer.

Every single Rutgers game I went to is a moment I loved. That probably consists of at least eight moments bundled into one fantastic memory.

My parents visiting me at my new town, new apartment, even though my dad sat on the couch the entire weekend it was worth it for them to know where I live. It snowed while they were here, which I am sure they were not thrilled about since they had just gotten home from Thailand.

Liam and I's first kiss.

Watching my friend Dave get married and being with my other birthday twin John after almost 9 months of not seeing each other.

Visiting my favorite city Seattle and then falling in love with Portland.

Dressing up for the Sweetheart Ball and dancing with Liam. It was like Prom all over again.

Every compliment he gives me, he makes sure to do it everyday and it makes me giddy every single time. He is so cheesy and I love it.

Our first mini trip to NJ and Washington, DC.

Making new friends. It was hard to move away from my friends and my family (when they're home), I moved away from everything I knew and left on my own to a place that was totally unknown to me. At first, it was difficult to find a group that was similar to me, especially in my position I did not know how close I could get to some employees. I finally found that group I enjoy spending time with and hanging out doing nothing crazy but enjoying each others company.

Falling asleep to the sound of his voice singing to me.

Going to my childhood best friends wedding, it wasn't a crazy big wedding but it was so nice to see her and see how happy she is with her new husband.

Speaking of HGTV, all the moments we've spent in front of the TV watching Property Brothers, Love It or List It, and Fixer Upper. We talk about all the things we love in the houses and what we would/wouldn't want in our home.

Couples pedicure. His nervous look and thinking they were going to make his feet bleed or his embarrassment of how his feet looked was the cutest thing ever.

The Spill Canvas. TWICE. AND I GOT TO MEET THEM. I mean, it was a short meet and greet but it was amazing! I loved the concerts, it made me feel like I was in high school again and reliving those moments was pretty awesome with some of my closest girlfriends.

Visiting my friends back home. I MISS THEM, but it's like we never left and I love seeing them and always being able to catch up where we left off. My home friends are the best.

Realizing that I was thinking about buying my own house. I think I watch too much HGTV for my own good but then it makes me want a house and I can see the two of us working on it together (along with his other two haha). It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling knowing how handy he is and how well we worked together on his house. But I mean, my own home!? I could not see that happening anytime soon and now I'm saving for it. The idea of being a homeowner and being able to fix the house how I

When I realized I loved him and didn't want to be with anyone else, the moments we had been through together in the short time and knowing he was there for all of it, he put up with me and was so open with me. He is so similar in many ways and so different in others but we work, he's that missing piece I knew I wanted in another human being; he is genuine and so good to me. We have a long road ahead of us but we have each other to get through it.

why i blog

May 24, 2014

While walking Fifa around the neighborhood last night, I was listening to episode 7 of Elise's podcast with Ann-Marie. These two are probably my top favorite bloggers and I can't even recall how I happened to stumble upon them (like most of the blogs I read), but I love reading them. After listening to it, I wondered why do I blog? What really is my incentive? And I realized..

None.

I have no hidden agenda to the reasoning of this blog, other then I really enjoy writing in it, for myself and to whomever chooses to follow along. When I was in high school I had a blog over at LiveJournal, it was the thing back then, but really it was for causing cat fights. Lame. I know. I never said I was a genius at 16.

When I began this blog, the reason for it was to document my Project Life pages for others to view, while allowing my parents, who live overseas for half the year, to be updated. My mom read it, I'm not sure if she still reads this but it has become my own little journal. My former boyfriend was also a reader and a full supporter in my journey to make this little space, as well as supporting all of my little side notes. Even after we broke up, he continued to read it, which probably was a terrible idea since I constantly vented about our break-up. Sorry about that.

But that's the thing, this is a space to vent, to share, to create something for myself.
It's what helped me through my break-up and right now, it's helping me figure out what to do in my current love life...

I share what I want to share, yet have not made a huge deal about having a blog to my friends in real life. I can't tell if it's because of embarrassment or just because I don't think they would have an interest. This space is for me and to find others who share the similar passion of just telling our stories. I'm not a mom, engaged, or have a real boyfriend, but I can relate to a lot of other people who blog. There are some blog posts that have gotten me through tough times and some that have helped my 'creativity' grow - and I enjoy it.

Blogging helps me.

It lets me write down how I'm feeling and what I'm thinking. I have a hard time getting my feelings out without sounding like a total ass. My mind goes crazy and I get anxiety from trying to think too much and say the correct thing. This helps me filter myself into what I truly want to say.

My blog pushes me to do more and it is one thing I love about it.
I love to cook and bake, I love to be crafty and although I can not do it on a consistent basis because, well life, I really like having it there when I need it. It has never crossed my mind to think hey, I want to do this professionally, it's just not my thing, but it works for me.

This little space of mine may never turn into a crazy lifestyle blog, but I will love it no matter what. I will always come back here to my little space on the Internet and click through the archives and see how much has changed over the years. I've been doing this for two years, two years! I can not believe I have been somewhat consistent over these last few years. It's wonderful in my eyes.

I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.
For those of you who stop by and read - thank you, thank you, thank you. It does mean a lot to me and I love finding new blogs to read so, stop by, say hi and let's be friends :)

May 23, 2014

After finding Kelsey's blog [Kelsey, Especially], I have been non-stop reading random posts that I keep clicking on throughout the current post I am reading and loved her 5 Fandom Things post. So in honor of it being Friday and totally getting some inspiration from her, I will do one! Because May has been a month of cooking new recipes, I decided to do a food related topic.

01 //  If you've been reading for a little while now, you'll know I'm a vegetarian/vegan/pescetarian. More of a vegetarian, but on occasion I'll cheat with some shrimps and scallops. Why? Because I really like them and when I'm out, I have a craving for them. I eat how I want to and I don't stick to a completely strict diet of vegetarianism. I will not eat any chicken, pork, turkey, or beef. It's a decision I made nearly three years ago and have never looked back on it.
02 //  Avocados? Yuck. I can't do it. No matter how many times I have tried to eat one and tried to enjoy it, the texture just makes me cringe and I won't take another bite. A vegetarian who doesn't like avocados? I know, so sue me.
03 //  Trader Joe's is my go-to grocery store. I love that place, especially the one near my place because the employees are super friendly too.
04 //  I drink coffee almost everyday. It's my one true addiction.
05 //  Cooking wasn't a 'thing' for me until I became a vegetarian/vegan. Vegan baking is one of my favorite pastimes, watching other people enjoy them is more fun then eating them for me.

Now to start the long 3-day weekend (after I get off from work)!

a list of twenty-five: what life was like at twenty-five

May 7, 2013

As I say goodbye to 25, I look back and I love it.
Even through the terrible events that occurred in my life, I understand that all things happen for a reason. When we embrace change we find exactly what we need and in my case, I found myself. My birthday last year amazing and I thank Steve for spoiling me with NYC, Central Park, and RENT. He made my 25th birthday exactly what I wanted and I love him so much for it. He helped me in so many ways I can not even count. I hope that I gave him as much as he had given me. Now that I am going to start a new year of my life, I can't help but smile when I look back.

  1. I finished my last semester as a graduate student.
  2. I moved home and saved money so I could start my own future; eventually.
  3. Found my female best friend and watched her get married.
  4. Vacationed in Thailand, amazing.
  5. Went to a total of 3 weddings. All great.
  6. Catered a wedding with 125 vegan cupcakes.
  7. Made some amazing new friends and rekindled with old ones.
  8. Went on a first date for the first time in three years.
  9. Weathered through a ridiculous hurricane.
  10. Visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
  11. Took my first trip into the city alone.
  12. Spent time with Steve and I loved every minute we shared together.
  13. Became more responsible with juggling school, work, and being a dog mom.
  14. The love of my life broke my heart.
  15. I picked myself up and began enjoying my life.
  16. Fell in love with Instagram.
  17. Dreamed of moving to California more than anything
  18. Broadened my musical horizon to more mellow
  19. Consistently worked out for the first time, I have abs!
  20. Traveled, not always far but it's okay
  21. Began job searching for a new career
  22. Stuck to being a vegetarian out and about, but eat vegan at home. I still love it.
  23. Realized how lucky I am to have so many wonderful people in my life
  24. Found my bubbly, outgoing personality again
  25. Happy. It was overall happy.

Yes, there were rough patches, but who doesn't have those? I loved twenty-five. I know I am going to love twenty-six.
